San Francisco Business Travel Primer

The Three-Hour Tour
Start with a stroll through the Ferry Building, the cathedral for foodies everywhere and a cornucopia of locally made fine cheeses, meats, and gourmet offerings. If the weather's cooperating, continue north up the Embarcadero and veer left to cross through the Financial District and up into North Beach, the city's vibrant Italian-American neighborhood and former home of Beat writers like Jack Kerouac. From there, climb up to Coit Tower for stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Marin headlands. If you'd rather see the hills from above than hoof them, spring for a 30-minute San Francisco Seaplane Tour, which soars past the Financial District and over the red pillars of the Golden Gate Bridge ($149 per person, pickup at Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf).
