About the William J. Clinton Foundation
The William J. Clinton Foundation, the philanthropic organization the former president founded in 2001, works both globally and domestically, focusing its efforts on four fronts: health; poverty relief; education; and climate. fighting global health crises including HIV/AIDS, malaria and childhood obesity, combating global climate change, and promoting sustainable development and economic opportunity around the world. Through partnerships with other organizations, governments, and individuals, the foundation develops new policies and programs for implementation in the United States and abroad.

Key to the foundation's mission is the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) annual meeting, the third of which is being held in New York City this month (September 26-28). First held to coincide with the 2005 World Summit, the meetingmodeled on the yearly economic summit in Davos, Switzerlandbegan as serves as a confab for current and former heads of state, charity directors, and business leaders to announce and/or fund philanthropic projects and share ideas for making the world a better place.
