Our continent-hopping readers—who know a thing or two about business travel—zero in on the world's best hotels, airlines, and airports

For the past decade, our readers who have travel the globe for work have been sharing their hard-won experience on everything from the most desirable business class seats to the best hotel food. Those we surveyed for this year's poll—split at 51.3 percent men, 48.7 percent women—are true connoisseurs of the ever-evolving realm of business travel: Almost 18 percent are on the road for at least three months a year, 92 percent book hotels on the internet (and 94 percent, airline tickets), and more than half go overseas for work. On the following pages, we present the sum of these road warriors' amassed knowledge, plus trends identified by leading business-travel journalists—insights that will serve all travelers well.

U.S. Hotel Chains
Peninsula tops the list for the second time with hotels in the key cities of Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.

International Hotel Chains
Indian company Oberoi, with a portfolio of luxe resorts and traditional corporate urban hotels, plans to open properties in Cambodia, Morocco, and Dubai over the next three years.

U.S. Airports
Portland's airport takes being green seriously. New solar panels produce electricity, low-flush toilets save 80,000 gallons of water per day, and food waste is turned into compost. Plus, there's free Wi-Fi throughout PDX.

International Airports
Passenger traffic at Singapore's Changi grew 5.4 percent in the first six months of the year, rising to 17.7 million passengers. The airport company has inked a deal to develop regional hubs in China.

Transpacific Routes—Business Class
Singapore Airlines's new 777 flights from the West Coast to Asia include USB ports and Microsoft Word and Excel on every seat's personal entertainment system.

Transatlantic Routes—Business Class
Emirates makes its debut on the Top 10. It will start service from Houston to Dubai in December 2007.

U.S. Routes—Business/First Class
This is the fourth win for Continental in the past five years. The carrier flies to 144 cities in the United States.

Leather seats and chocolate-chip cookies baked on board continue to keep fliers content on Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines.

Methodology
The independent firm Inquisite asked more than 19,500 readers of Condé Nast Traveler identified as business travelers to rate hotel chains, airports, and airlines excellent, very good, good, fair, or poor on a variety of criteria. Final scores—out of 100—represent the percentage of readers who rated a hotel chain, airport, or airline excellent or very good and are based on a required minimum number of responses. More than 2,500 surveys were completed, returned, and tabulated.
