Condé Nast Traveler's 2009 Spa Poll results were derived from our annual Readers' Choice Survey, whose questionnaire was available through a secure Web site. Tabulation of the survey's 32,633 responses was done by Mediamark Research, Inc., of New York City. Spas were rated excellent, very good, good, fair, or poor for Location, Spa Facilities, Treatments, Spa Staff, Rooms, Service, Food/Dining, and Design (resort and destination spas were also rated on Activities/Other Facilities). Criterion scores, representing the percentage of respondents rating a spa excellent or very good, were averaged to determine the final score. Overall scores were aggregated with nonrepetitive responses from the previous year. Only spas receiving a required minimum number of responses were included in these rankings.
