Packages at Canyon Ranch, in Lenox, Massachussetts, include meals, classes, and a consultation with a specialist (800-742-9000; canyonranch.com; three-night packages for two from $3,340; w).

OraOxygen, in Detroit Metro Airport, offers everything from manicures to full-body massages and could make terminal boredom obsolete. Therapists give you an estimate of how long any treatment will take, and will tailor the treatment to your schedule (734-247-4770; oraoxygen.net; treatments, $10-$120).

The Spa at The Peninsula, Beverly Hills is a day spa with a 60-foot rooftop pool and a dizzying array of ornate treatments, some lasting several hours (800-462-7899; peninsula.com; treatments, $95-$375; w).

Spa Mystique is a huge Asian-themed day (and resort) spa in the middle of Los Angeles's Century Plaza hotel. Within its 35,000 feng shui-ed square feet, you can get modernized versions of traditional Thai, Japanese, and Korean treatments (310-551-3251; spamystique.com; treatments, $50-$270).

The down-home country feel of Connie Stevens's The Garden Sanctuary belies this day spa's big-city prices. The treatment menu consists of an entirely orthodox selection of manicures, pedicures, facials, and massages (426 S. Robertson Blvd.; 310-288-3024; foreverspring.com; treatments, $30-$650).

Ole Henriksen Face & Body Shop is the L.A. hipsters' sleek day spa of choice. Though its menu includes most traditional spa offerings, it is the only place in the world where you can sit in a specially designed Muscle Comfort Jet Tub for the spa's signature Wetroom Treatments (8622 W. Sunset Blvd.; 310-854-7700; olefacebody.com; treatments, $25-$185).

Mii Amo Destination Spa at Enchantment is cocooned within a large desert complex. All-inclusive packages cover a room at Enchantment Resort, meals, and a set number of treatments (888-749-2137; miiamo.com; three-night packages for two from $3,180; w).
