Check out our picks for the best places to stay, eat, and play
Anyone with a place in the country owes a debt to prolific architect Andrea Palladio, who built the first modern retreats on the rolling green of the Veneto. "Andrea Palladio and the Venetian Villa," at Vicenza's Palazzo Barbaran da Porto through the summer, investigates the concept, displaying Titians and Tiepolos, mosaics, manuscripts, maps, and a section of a villa under construction in the courtyard. Admission includes visits to some of the purest Palladio properties nearby (39-0444-323014).
