80 Days Recap

Welcome readers!
In March 2007, Conde Nast Traveler sent writer Mark Schatzker around the world. The conditions of the trip were as follows: He could not fly, he could not travel more than 100 miles per hour, and he had to complete the journey in precisely 80 days. The intention was to rediscover "slow travel," seeking out the corners and in-between places that still exist.
Over the next 80 days, Mark used this blog, 80 Days or Bust, to post daily dispatches on everything from horseback riding in Mongolia to mud-bathing in Napa to a sorry attempt at making fusilli in Italy.
You can read Mark's day-by-day accounts here. Use the navigation at right to follow his journey across the U.S. and the Pacific, over the TransMongolian Railway, along Italy's Amalfi Coast, and beyond.
And look out for the September issue of Conde Nast Traveler for Mark's feature-length article and a four-page annotated map of his 80 day journey.

I Love it!!!!! Send me a map(THIS IS NOT JOKE) I always wanted to do this , but you just did it for me. My fiance' is scared to death of airplanes and this is really a great idea. I haven't finished your story yet but I am enjoying the hell out of half of this. Please email me your personal map. My daughter will be 20 next year so I plan to take try this in about a year or two. I also need pointers, like, (1) should I(we) pack light (2) hotels (3)whatever you suggest , I LOVE IT. I guess you were sad that you family had to leave but the baby might have been a little too young for the Travel , you think? I know you missed them, because 1 month is a long time to be away from a family so I guess more than that was worse. Hey! now your there to get all the Hugzz and kisses you want plus you can tell your wife and kids about that adventure( that will last a lifetime). I do the road alot. Tell you more later. I am here and there until my home is finished. Please email me the MAP!!(I couldn't find city to city one)...This was an adventure and you didn't have join the service(lol) I thought this can only happen in movies(smile)
