Valencia: Disco City

The new port area is glitzy, but insiders know that the pulse of the city beats hardest, loudest, and longest in Barrio del Carmen, the old town. Disco City is a midsize bar and dance club, a simple black-on-black space with a wall of mirrors lining a dance floor jammed with twenty- to thirtysomethings grooving to old-school funk, soul, and R&B. The scene really heats up after 3 A.M., when most of the barrio's other bars close.
