Finding a Pad in Venice

Over the weekend, Daily Traveler reader Vmccurly asked: I need an apartment or bed and breakfast for six nights in Venice, Italy.  Do you have any recommendations?  What is the best way to travel from Pisa to Perugia and then on to Venice?

Start with a visit to Wendy's Rolodex of Top Villa Agents. There you will see that the right person to contact for an apartment is Denise Corsile of Venice Rentals in Quincy, Massachusetts. Based in Venice eight months of the year and married to a Venetian, Corsile knows her properties. You won't find info about individual apartments on her Web site; after an initial consultation over the phone, she'll send links to the Web pages of the properties she deems most suitable (617-472-5392;;

Help please. We had a horrible experience with American Airlines and have a lot of trouble trying to get our money back from them. Here is our story.
My wife and I bought two tickets online and paid through their option to deduct the money from our check account. The ticket was not immediately issued and we called our local AA office in South Africa where we currently are. They informed us that they will follow up. By the next morning, we found out that for me, AA issued two tickets on the same day on the same flight and. We called our local AA office again and they then cancelled the ticket.
However, AA deducted the money from our check account for both tickets. We have spend in excess of 6 hours on the phone calling internationally from South Africa, send emails, send faxes and still do not have our money back. This is now more than 1 month later. Yesterday we got an email from AA saying that we will not be refunded since according to them, the money was not deducted from our credit card.
On top of it all, American Airline post a telephone number on their website for enquiries on refunds, but nobody ever answers the phone (with that I mean a live person). One gets a recording that notes that one called outside business hours. This happened to us even when we called within various ıTexası times.
We faxed our bank account statement to them proving that the money was deducted. We had several promises from their customer relations that they would call us back, but have not received a single phone call.
A ticket that cost us $237, now cost us way in excess of $300 if you would add the international cost to call from South Africa to AA for a period of 6 hours (we have not received our telephone account yet), plus a fax that cost us over $80. We are losing a lot of money in our attempt to get our money back for this ticket. I get the feeling that these people do not even bother to read the fax, the letter, or to do their research. We are often told that it is impossible that the money would have been deducted since the ticket was cancelled within 24 hours. But it was. Should they do their research and contact their accounts department to make sure this money was deducted from our account, they would find out otherwise. But I get the feeling that they really donıt care and are not willing to do so.
We are willing to send to you the full package as we send it to them.
Please, please help!
