Zac Efron Traveling Incognito: Beyond the Paparazzi

Efron's new film, 17 Again.

by Beata Loyfman

Let's say you were the young, handsome star of a cagillion dollar Disney franchise. Let's say that you shine your shoes with Benjamins and gross more each year than Burundi. Let's say that tween girls from L.A. to Tokyo faint each time your pretty face appears on the screen. What would you do? Well, if you're Zac Efron, you would try to escape it all.

"I'd love to take a year off and travel the world under the radar. I would love to do it really low-key. I wouldn't need to stay in fancy hotels or anything; I just want to explore--but I don't know how I'd do it. Maybe I'd shave my head to try and go incognito?" (Starpulse)

Well, Zachary, you're in luck, because we've done the hard work for you. Read our picks for spots where you'll be free to roam the streets as just another pretty face. Added bonus? These locales won't put a dent in your nest egg.

* Peru: While Machu Picchu is overrun with tourists snapping photos of the remnants of Incan empire, just 25 miles away Choquequirao sits deserted. You'll have to hire a guide and a cook, carry your own gear, and ride a mule, but when you arrive at the lost city, we guarantee it'll be magic. Plus you won't find a single paparazzo. Check out how to do it here.

* Greenland: Residents of the world's biggest island are more concerned about melting glaciers than Hollywood heartthrobs, so your cover will be safe here. And what's cooler than a place where the main mode of transportation is dogsled? Check out how to make the most of the Inuit heartland here.

* Lakshadweep Islands: Say what? No, I'm not making it up. This collection of 27 islands scattered off the coast of southwestern India is a little piece of paradise--and as far off the grid as it gets. If you find someone who's heard of High School Musical here, the drinks are on us. Check out the specifics here.

So you see, Zac, there are plenty of places all over the world where your famous mug can go unnoticed. Worst comes to worst, you can always wear one of these. If you want some more destinations, give your Auntie Beata a call.

Am I the only one who thinks that Zac Efron and Chase Crawford separated at birth?

Great blog. I think Zac will need to wear dark glasses to get away with this. His eyes will give him away every time. I hope he takes you up on it, these are some great options for him.

Don't know who the guy is, but I really like the descriptions of the destinations... (I'll have to look them up). Always good to know about spots off the beaten path.

Glad you guys liked this one. Any ideas for future posts? Anything you'd like advice on that I've overlooked? Feel free to give me a shout at
