The Fashion Department Returns from Broome

Danger zone: What it took our fashion team to get the perfect image in Broome.
For Condé Nast Traveler's March fashion feature, "The Distant Shore," our fashion department traveled to Broome, Australia. Closer to Singapore than to Sydney, cinema-worthy Broome is where Orient meets Outback. The Daily Traveler sat down with Associate Style and Accessories Editor Tiffany Gifford to discuss the trip.
DT: Why Broome?
Tiffany Gifford: We had planned on going to India, but changed the shoot at the last minute when violence broke out there. Our photographer was held hostage in a Mumbai hotel and, when she fled, her equipment, money, and Australian passport were all left there. She only had a temporary passport, so we went to her. It worked out beautifully; the Kimberley region of western Australia is breathtaking. It ended up being the perfect backdrop for our story, which we had to completely change in a matter of days!
