Top 10 Ways To Spot A Travel Rookie
By Wendy Perrin
Before the latest issue of American Airlines' in-flight magazine disappears from seatback pockets everywhere, check out the article Roads Scholars, in which the magazine's road-warrior readers contribute their Top 10 lists on how to spot a travel rookie. My 11 favorite ways to spot them:
11. They wear lace-up knee-high boots to the security checkpoint.
10. They do not grab the first free blanket they see when boarding.
9. They buy headsets on the airplane instead of bringing their own.
8. They keep confusing the overhead-light button with the flight-attendant call button.
7. They wait until the whole movie is over to stand in line for the bathroom.
6. They wait in the long line to rebook a canceled flight rather than calling the airline's 800 number.
5. They forget kindergarten math and stand at the boarding area expecting that, in the alternate universe that is the airport, Group 5 will come before Group 2.
4.When disembarking, they stop immediately upon entry into terminal to ensure a mass pile-up of passengers behind them.
3. They check their luggage. (If you can't cram two weeks of clothing into a carry-on, you are not trying!)
2. They expect food on the plane.
1. They still call them stewardesses.
