WHERE'S WENDY? Round 3

by Wendy Perrin

Admiring the aeronautic display high above, Wendy Perrin asks you to name the jets, as well as the city, port and building visible from her vantage point.

These jets flew overhead earlier today.

And this building was completed only last year.

Where am I?  Name the city, port, building, and jets.

America's Cup Foredeck building, Valencia, Spain, port of Valencia, the jets are Casa C-101 Aviojets of the Spanish Air Force.

The jets look like Casa C-101 Aviojet trainers of the Spanish display team Patrulla Aguila.

The building is the America's Cup Foredeck building in Valencia, Spain. It sits overlooking the America's Cup Harbor.

This is a new port area called Balcon al Mar, integrating the Valencia port, marina and beach areas (hat tip to the Web site Europe for Visitors for that specific info.)

So, Wendy, are you in Valencia to watch the America's Cup Race? It looks like it started today?

Now, I totally confess that I thought Wendy was throwing us off with the Spanish Navy tall ship, so I wasted time running around in Estonia looking up their 23 June Victory Day celebration.

Agree with seafarer - Alinghi won the first America's Cup race by over 30 seconds.

Wendy - I think your luck with flights has rubbed off on me. 4 of my flights have been cancelled in 2 days!

Darn work anyways lol

should have known my 1st guess was too easy - Wendy would never stay still that long

Hey Seafarer! GREAT to have you back! Hope you can stick with us. You're right: I'm in Valencia. And Tracker1312, you're right about the Patrulla Aguila. But nobody seems to have given the official name of the port and the official (Spanish) name of the building yet.

GlobalTraveller and Kiwiwriter, I was rooting for Team New Zealand (ooops--I mean Emirates Team New Zealand!) Sorry about the bad luck.

The Spanish name of the building is Edificio Veles e Vents.

Is the official name of the port in Spanish Puerto de Valencia?

Hi Tracker1312,
You got the name of the building right: Veles e Vents. The port's official name is in English, I believe.

Hi Seafarer,
There's a sign on the building's third floor that says "Foredeck Club," but I haven't heard the place described as the "Foredeck Building."

Wendy

I think it may be officially called Puerto Autonomo de Valencia.

Hmm, on maps the name of the port is marked in Spanish Puerto Autonomo de Valencia, but in English everyone seems to refer to it as the Port of Valencia.

Okay, I've found the marina referred to as Port America's Cup.

You got it, Tracker.
So the correct answers are:

City: Valencia
Port: Port America's Cup
Building: Veles e Vents
Jets: Patrulla Aguila

Not sure who won this round. Looks to me like it oughta be declared a tie between Seafarer and Tracker. Good guesses, guys! On to Round 4 . . .
