WHERE'S WENDY? Round 3, Take 2

Behind the spectator boats, you can (just barely) make out Switzerland's Alinghi (white spinnaker) and Emirates Team New Zealand (red spinnaker)-- the two sailboats that raced today in the first match of the 32nd America's Cup. June 23, 2007

I'm not sure anyone has correctly named the port and building yet! The city is indeed Valencia, and the jets are indeed the Patrulla Aguila -- the aerobatic demonstration team of the Spanish Air Force which, together with the Patrouille Suisse, kicked off the 32nd America's Cup with an air show. As for the port and the building, the names given so far are not the same as what's written on the America's Cup maps and literature around here. So I feel I've got to be a stickler and ask again: What's the official name of the port, and what's the official (Spanish) name of the building?

Here's the port at night, viewed from about the same vantage point as yesterday. See the lit-up building on the left with red lights on top? That's the team base for today's winner, Alinghi. June 23, 2007

I'll go ahead and post what I found here.
The building is Veles e Vents.
The harbor seems to be referred to as the Port America's Cup Marina according to the America's Cup website, though on world maps it seems to be marked differently. :)

I think I may have figured it out. You said that the building was just completed last year. On maps, the harbor is marked Puerto Autonomo de Valencia, but these must be old, because there is a different setup now. On the regular maps, ships can come from the south all the way up to where the America's Cup is going on. On Google Earth (which has maps from just a couple of months ago), you can see that they've rearranged the way the ships come in.
I suppose that's why the name of that part of the harbor was given as the Port America's Cup, because it's all new. Or at least that's what I'm thinking. I could be wrong.

I agree with Tracker - the building is the Velas y Ventas pavillion and was designed by American Architect David Chipperfield.
And all the maps I've seen call it the Port America's Cup or Port America's Cup marina.
Wendy, did you get the the City of Arts and Sciences complex with ?
David Chipperfield's Velas y Ventas pavilion

Hi Kiwiwriter,
Your team won today!!! And yes, the building is Veles e Vents (which means something like "Sails and Wind"), and the port is Port Americas Cup.
G'day mate,
Wendy

Go Team New Zealand...
Never write a kiwi off - they always find a way to get back in the game...
Looks like an interesting place ...unfortunately not on my travel plans this year - only Madrid...
