Suggestions for a Group Tour?

by Wendy Perrin

This question came in from andy10003:

"My 70-year-old mother is looking for a group tour of Southeast Asia. Do you know of any well-regarded Asia tour groups that cater to older women traveling alone?"

The first thought that pops into my head is Elderhostel. Its not-for-profit learning programs appeal to single travelers and seem to represent quite a value, as they don't charge the unreasonably high "single supplements" that so many tour companies do.

Does anyone have another suggestion for andy10003?  Or does anyone who has taken an Elderhostel trip have input to share?  Thanks!

Hi Wendy,

I think most tour groups would likely fit the bill. We did a Friendly Planet tour of Thailand and women in their 70's traveling alone made up probably a third of the entire group.

My parents both in their 80's at the time enjoyed several Asian cruises. The ship is no longer in service (Song Of The Flower ) but Regent crises has several similar Asian trips. A cruise is perfect for a mature woman as one can stay on board if necessary and rest All their needs were catered to. They tried Elderhostel once but found it too vigorous. Sherry in GA
