Overseas Tours at Beat-the-Recession Prices
Site of an ancient kingdom, Sukhothai in Thailand is a stop on one of Overseas Adventure Travel's far-flung yet affordable tours.

Seeking an international tour that may well be cheaper than staying in the U.S.? Overseas Adventure Travel is offering several, with per-person prices that include taxes, fees, accommodations, excursions, most meals, and international airfare. A sampling:
Thailand: A 16-day tour of Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Sukhothai, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai for $1,792--or $112 per day. The total represents savings of $300 per person over last year's price.
Costa Rica: A 13-day tour of Arenal, Guanacaste, and the Pacific Coast for $1,873--or $144 per day. The total is $150 per person less than last year.
Egypt: A 15-day tour of Cairo, Aswan, and Luxor, plus a Nile cruise for $2,199--or $147 per day. The savings versus last year? $500.
Bonus: For all trips, O.A.T. is waiving its single supplement--a fee charged to solo travelers--which was as much as 40 percent of the trip cost in 2008.
Caveat: You won't be staying in five-star, Condé Nast Traveler-rated Gold List properties, but in comfortable accommodations that reflect each destination's native character, in keeping with O.A.T.'s focus on travel value and cultural discovery (at least one meal will be in a local's home). Something else to keep in mind: International flights leave from airports that vary by tour destination. (Thailand trips depart from Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle; Egypt trips leave from New York.)
Book by: There is no expiration date, but booking is based on availability.
For travel from: August - December 2009.
How to book: Call Overseas Adventure Travel at 800-873-5628. (You can't make reservations at the company's Web site, but you can check out details of these and other trips).

I have been on three Overseas Adventure tours (Turkey, China, Africa) and they were very good and terrific bargains. I am going on a fourth this year (Vietnam).
