This ain't the White House: The entrance to D.C.'s Hotel Palomar, located at Dupont Circle.

If you're like Wendy, you've been traveling to the nation's capital quite a bit this year. (She's en route there at this very moment, in fact.) If you haven't but are planning to go in July, you're in luck: Kimpton hotels are offering a third night for $17.76 (not including taxes and fees).
Book a two-night weekend stay (Friday and Saturday) in July and you pay only $17.76 (plus taxes) on Sunday night at any one of Kimpton's ten boutique hotels in Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Over July 4th weekend, for instance, the Palomar in D.C. will cost you about $430 (including taxes and fees) for three nights in a standard room with a queen-size bed. And where better to spend Independence Day than in our nation's capital, especially if it means a savings of 30%? (You might just catch a glimpse of that famous Portuguese Water Dog named Bo.)
Note: The $17.76 rate does not include taxes. Washington, D.C., hotels have a city tax of 14.5%, Arlington has a 10.25% state tax, and Alexandria hotels have an 11.5% room tax.
Caveat: Since this is not a Kimpton-wide promotion, you cannot find a list of participating hotels on the company's Web site. So here's a list: In D.C., the Topaz Hotel, Hotel Helix, Hotel Rouge, Hotel Palomar, Hotel Madera, The Hotel George, and Hotel Monaco. In Virginia, Hotel Palomar Arlington, Lorien Hotel & Spa, and Hotel Monaco Alexandria.
Book by: July 6, 2009. Call the hotels directly, or if you book online, make sure to enter the 1776 promotion code.
For travel from: July 2 - July 26, 2009.
Condé Nast Traveler approved: D.C.'s Hotel Monaco, a former post office, was on our Hot List when it opened in 2003. Wendy has stayed there (of course) and says she'd go back in a heartbeat.
