Great Travel Moment

From 1984-1985 I rode my bicycle from England to Egypt. I had a six week visa for Egypt and wanted to ride as far down along the Nile as possible. I had a cheap Russian camera that I bought in a used camera shop in Israel. Propping the camera up, I set the self-timer and ran back to my loaded bike for one of the few pictures I have of myself in Egypt; though there is a number of pictures of me in Egyptians' photo albums. As a woman travelling alone, young men would approach me at acheological sights wanting me to be in photos of them and their friends. I guess I was exotic in their eyes...a young North American woman travelling alone on a bicycle.
