Yes, I know, everyone returns from the Galapagos with hundreds of photos of the charming sea lions. But I snapped this feeling maudlin about returning to civilization the next day. While I was enjoying the peaceful relaxation of my sea lion pals, a tourist (from a different boat) pranced very close, calling“Hello Cuties!” only to be shocked by a loud, disdainful, toothy roar from the no-longer snoozing darlings. Nor did she appreciate my laughter. Upon wriggling closer, I learned that a steady diet of fish without toothpaste does not make for a fragrant roar!
