Great Travel Moment Living near Acadia National Park, it's easy to go on a quick hike any time there's a spare moment. Our license plate moto is"Vacationland", and we have to make a point of enjoying our home, even though we are not on vacation. A favorite hike with my friends is up Beech Mountain where there's a number of trails to the mountain top firetower. The trail we love to hike down has a fantastic view of Long Pond. Many years ago someone built wonderful stone chairs to relax in. This is frowned upon by the Park Service because it alters the natural landscape. The location has remained secret amongst locals to preserve the altered site we enjoy lounging in. |
