Great Travel Moment DJemaa El-Fna, the largest public square in Marrakech, is a real sight to behold. It seems to exist untouched by time, from the days when Marrakech was one of the big trading cities of the Old World. This is where the locals come to while away the evening hours. One night we indulged in some of the local cuisine a sheep's head, grilled meats, salads, and freshly squeezed orange juice. After eating, wonder around the square and listen to musicians and story tellers or watch the acrobats and of course the locals. Finish the night by sipping on some famous mint tea and watching the stars twinkle behind the towering minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque. You know you are in a strange new land after a visit to DJemaa El-Fna. |
