I was in Hawaii for the first time with my brother and his wife—on the left and far right, respectively—for our friend’s wedding, who is sitting up on the rocks at Maunawili Falls.I took this picture of Truck, one of my five roommates, in midair on his first jump. It reminds me of the most exciting, yet intimidating, moment of the trip. The ledge we jumped from didn’t look very high from the ground, but once you climbed up there everything changed.The scariest part was not the actual jump itself, it was climbing up to the jumping spot. You had to scale a wall of rock above the waterfall without any noticeable grooves to place your hands or feet. To make matters worse, the rock was wet from the others who climbed up before you, and one misstep could be your last.I only jumped once.
