Great Travel Moment

In this picture, my friend and I were en route to the Serengeti after reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro. The zebras behind us did not flee at our approach, and the picture reveals my feeling of being a part of the rest of creation while in Africa. I had dreamed of climbing Kili for years before taking this trip in August of 2006. Two years prior I lived in Uganda and helped a Ugandan team launch a girls' leadership academy; while there, my friends and I began planning a trip to Tanzania. Our safari provided rest from the climb and allowed time for reflection. Throughout my experience in Tanzania, I felt overwhelming gratitute for my education and for the ability to be there with the people and animals.
