Great Travel Moment Something different was going on... The Vietnamese are masters at transporting akward, heavy items through insane traffic. All week preceding the Chinese New Year, entire families riding on one motorbike would zip past me while someone cradled a large pig's head on their lap. It was not strange to be surrounded by pigs heads at an intersection. I thought to myself,"this is new." Watching this woman stirring the pot with her chopsticks, pig snout peering over the edge of the pot, I smiled. She told me that they were preparing a traditional New Year's meal to be shared with the family that evening. She graciously welcomed me into her outdoor kitchen to share the ancient family preparations and recipe with me. |
