Great Travel Moment We were walking up and down streets in Catania while visiting my son in the Navy. I saw an arch and insisted we go up there. It took us a while to get there, and even though we were out of breath it was worth it. It is called Porta Garibaldi. It is made with white limestone and strips of lava stone. There is a grinning mask underneath what I believe is an eagle. Behind it, in the background, is the Dome by the famous Cathedral. It was getting later and later and even though the Cathedral was our main goal, we never did make it there. |
