Great Travel Moment January in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, brings early afternoon shadows. We were having a cerveza in a cantina on the Calle San Francisco, and as though I was in a spaghetti western, I stepped outside through the bar's swinging doors and looked up and down the street. Siesta was not quite over and, so help me, the caballero walked over to the wall, crumbled against it and pulled his sombrero down over his eyes. I'm convinced he is paid by the San Miguel Chamber of Commerce to find the perfect light, cast a perfect shadow ... and dazzle the gringo tourists! |
