I had overflown Angel Falls the prior year, but spending the three days travelling by river to get there was an altogether different experience. You are bored with the sameness of the river, the drone of the outboard engine, the heat and humidity and then this massive formation is suddenly in front of you. You felt it was old,the way it had always been. The way it should be.
