Great Travel Moment In the main square of Marrakesh - Djemaa El Fna - there is a bustle of street vendors, snake charmers and men with monkeys who will pose for photographs in colorful costumes. It's a menagerie of sights, smells and sounds during the daytime that is wonderfully entertaining and beautiful, and I vividly recall the taste of the sweet orange juice pressed by dozens of orange juice vendors lined up in the square. However, it's the Djemaa El Fna at night, under the smokey haze from the mounds of steaming snails, seafood and meat for sale, that really comes alive. I chose this photograph because the image of the orange juice vendors' carts at night, which glow to the sound of entertainers' music in the background, has left me with a breathtaking reminder of the energy and experience of Morocco. |
