Great Travel Moment

There are certain places, places where simply the name conjures the exotic, Zanzibar is one of those. Arriving from Dar es Salaam by ferry, the thin white and green strip of an island appears as majestic and enticing as you could possibly hope. I remember a tingling in my toes, an urge to arrive, to explore, to taste. I wanted to be, and in the end was, completely taken over by the island, by its people and scenery. This image represents all that is amazing about travel- the overwhelming excitement of arriving at a new destination, of seeing the land from the boat or from the airplane window, or even simply an image in a magazine, and feeling that rush, that desire to be there and be overcome by all the new sensations the place has to offer.
