Great Travel Moment This was taken on the shore of Emerald Lake in Alberta, Canada. It was late afternoon, and we took a boat out on the lake. Everything was so calm. We paddled to the middle of the lake admiring the beauty of the surrounding Rocky mountains, when suddenly the wind kicked up. We realized we were the only boat still on the lake. We paddled furiously and uselessly trying to reach land again. We were scared and unsure what to do next. But the wind died down as quickly as it had arrived, and we were able to get back to shore. I took this photo as we were walking away, the lake as calm and placid as before. I love it because it reminds me of the unexpected joys -- and tribulations -- of travel. |
