Great Travel Moment

This man is part way between his ordinary and his stage self. He still wears his knitted cap and not his headdress. The makeup begins the transformation, but, for now, the mask of the king is not complete. Later, he will put on the clothing of a great Chinese king, continuing to transform himself from the outside in. Finally, ready to step onto the stage, he will generate the king from within, transforming his real existence into a theatrical one. He will please the audience at the Beijing Opera yet another time, me, included.
