Dream Trip 2008: AprilStarting A Bonfire For Our Evening of Socialization -Near Zakopane, Poland

Great Travel Moment Zakopane in Southern Poland is much colder than Krakow. We live in Florida where we have no snow or very cold temperature so I easily get cold. We had a reunion with our Polish friends who we hosted in Florida and we all met in Zakopane, Southern Poland near the Slovak border. The female owner of the Pension was starting the bonfire as shown on this picture. She and her husband provided all the drinks. They felt so sorry for me since I was shivering later that night so they gave me a blanket. I would not miss that event for the world so I was determined that I would stay out there with them. I found out that her husband lived and worked in Chicago for many years and so he always treated Americans well as a "pay back" for being treated so well while he lived in Chicago. This picture reminds me of one of the coldest nights I have ever spent outside while on vacation but that happy moment with our friends is forever etched in my mind. |
