Great Travel Moment When I learned we'd be going to rural China to see potato farming operations I never imagined we'd be confined to a bus speeding through the countryside with an 'assigned tour guide.' By the time I took this picture I'd had enough of government tea and jewelry shops, ditched our 'assigned escort,' found a driver who didn't speak English and through an interpreter, asked to be taken out to the country and dropped off. For the next few days I walked through the countryside and was deeply humbled by seeing people dressed in suit coats work the land by hand in searing hot temperatures. These gentlemen kindly allowed me to take their picture, and as they walked home, all I wanted to do was go with them. |
