Great Travel Moment

This photo was taken from the cab of a Royal Gorge Railroad diesel locomotive. Ahead is the famous "hanging bridge" in the narrowest part of the canyon. The Royal Gorge is one of the few tourist railroads to offer "cab rides" on a limited basis. My son and I had the opportunity to fulfill the dream of "operating" a real locomotive over some of the most spectacular rails in the USA. We had always wanted to have the experience of viewing a train trip from the engineer's perspective and the views were fantastic. As gorgeous as the scenery is from the passenger cars, it cannot compare to the thrill of viewing it from the cab of the locomotive. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
