Great Travel Moment This was taken very early in the morning when the bay was quiet and the boats' engines were not running. Halong Bay is one of UNESCO's Heritage Sites. The Vietnamese name for it is "Vinh Ha Long or "Bay of the Descending Dragons". It has thousands of beautiful limestone mountains, several caves, and calm water. The hand carved wooden dragon adorned the front of the junk boat we were in. It stormed the day before this picture was taken so I made it a point to wake up very early to take pictures. Halong Bay is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I would be happy just to sit there and admire the beauty of the surroundings. A picture submitted to the CN contest last year inspired me to see Halong Bay. |
