Great Travel Moment

This was our first trip to Oahu. We ventured out on a cloudy day to visit Byodo-In Temple. Byodo-In Temple is located at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains, in Kaneohe. When there, you feel that you are transported into the Orient. It is very peaceful and calming. Inside the temple sits a 20 foot tall Lotus Buddha statue. Your shoes must be taken off before entering the temple. We spent the day walking the grounds, feeding the Koi fish, viewing the autograph tree and visiting the all-faiths cemetary. There is also a very enjoyable gift shop on the grounds. Before we left, we rang the giant Peace Bell which is used to purify the mind of evil spirits. The sun broke free from the clouds while we were there, and as we drove away, it started to rain again.
