Great Travel Moment Travel can be a world of extremes, both within and outside ourselves. We began our month-long South American adventure with a terrible night on the cold floor of the Guayaquil airport, where, fatefully, we meet a group of Rotarians, who were happy to give us practically free spots on their trip to the Galapagos Islands (due to 2 cancellations). The following day, on the 2-hour bus ride to Otavalo from Quito, my camera was stolen and my friend became extremely nauseous. When we finally stop, she vomited violently while walking from the bus. As she sat down to recover, I saw this little boy quietly eating something like mush from a plastic bag. Here, I see the layered, multiple dimensions of life. Luckily, I was able to capture the moment, with my friend's camera, to help me remember the various, concurrently running stories. |
