Great Travel Moment It took us 3 days to see our first lion in Kruger National Park. But when we finally saw one, it was more than we had hoped for - a lioness with 3 cubs (the third one was hiding in the grass in this photo). Knowing how protective cats are of their young, I almost cried as I watched her lie on the pavement close to our car to nurse and groom them. This photo was taken just before one of the cubs was toppled over by her vigorous grooming and I crack up every time I look at it because the cub has that "Easy, mom!" look on its face. I feel very fortunate to have been able to share those moments with them. It's an extraordinary experience, being close to a wild animal, and realizing they're looking at you as if you were part of their world. |
