Great Travel Moment While cruising on our 30th anniversary, we were out for a day with sharks & stingrays aboard the Shark Boy, which was also the alias of the boat owner, Johnny. His trusty assistant Silly, had a long graying pony tale hanging against his dark back, a sort of resume of his long experience in these tropical waters. He wore the biggest black pearl around his neck, and seemed a blood brother of the sharks. Cruising inside the barrier island that surrounds, with the cloud covered peak of Bora Bora behind, we were passed by another local. Ocean breeze cooled us with help from spray misting off the outrigger pontoon as the Shark Boy cut through the light chop of crystal clear blue water. The mild scent & taste of seawater was evident in each breath as we cruised along to the sounds of Sillys ukulele serenading us. Not a sense was left unsatisfied. Five years on, I still wear the large black pearl acquired on that trip, and often think of this and other moments from our adventure. |
