Dream Trip 2008: JulyThe Vietnamese Street Sweeper - Near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Great Travel Moment I watched this lady sweep the street after a heavy downpour and I felt tired after a few minutes. I wondered how much back pain she had at the end of the day because her broom was so short. She had to stoop to sweep. It was interesting to see how different the brooms were from one culture to another. When we made eye contact, she smiled at me. I admire the tenacity and resiliency of the Vietnamese. The hardship that they endured during the war did not seem to break their spirit. |

A nice photo, Tess. A short broom definitely is hard on the back. Resiliency-- is a good trait to have.*****
