Great Travel Moment

Muscat, Oman, at the Palace of Sultan Qabbos bin Said. Just after sunset. The setting, near the famous Muttra Suq, is a visual contrast of ancient and modern - just like the country itself. In the foreground the Palace, whimiscal and Disney-modern. To one side of the palace is a row of gleaming,single-story whte domes. Behind on the ancient hills overlooking the sea are the dark, somber forts of old Muttra.
