Great Travel Moment On a warm spring day, I was visiting the small community of Ccaccaccollo deep within the Sacred Valley in Peru. We were going to observe their women - skilled weavers - work the looms, weaving alpaca fibers and mixing dyes in cauldrons. As we watch them work, a young Quechua boy comes skipping along a red, mud wall and for a split second, hangs frozen in time like an historic painting as he skips - a symbol of absolute joy within the simplest of living conditions. That moment of pure innocence and joy was forever ingrained in my mind as I watched him skip away. He instantly transported me back to my childhood when I found total excitement in the simplest things. As I turned back to the women at the looms, their simple work became much more vibrant and extraordinary. |
