Great Travel Moment I remember walking into a large square, nestled between churches and gorgeous old buildings, in Salzburg, Austria. It was filled with souvenir vendors, sculptures, horse-drawn carriages, pretzel makers, and artists, all lining the streets. This walk was only a couple of days into my first trip away from home and I was in complete awe of everything around me. Walking across the cobblestones and dodging other tourists, I spotted a beautiful fountain with sculptures galore. I sprinted towards it. When I finally reached the fountain, I remember turning to my friend (and tour guide), Lena, and saying "Hold my pretzel, I'm going to climb the fountain!" Nobody even glanced up, let alone stopped me, as I balanced on the concrete ledge above the water. I was determined to have a conversation with my new-found, sculptured friend. |
