Dream Trip 2008: MaySharing Fresh Sunflower Seeds and Precious Moments- Dunajec River,Poland, Europe

Great Travel Moment We had a reunion with our Polish friends in September 2005. We met in Zakopane,Southern Poland so that all of us could go river rafting in the Dunajec River. Our friends arranged everything so I did not have to worry. The day before, we went shopping for food to take with us to the Pension. We bought lots of raspberries, blackberries, and a huge sunflower with big black seeds. I did not see my friends cook the seeds but I did not ask any questions, either. When we started rafting, they took out the huge fresh sunflower. I have only eaten roasted sunflower seeds in the U.S. so I was surprised to see my friends tear off big pieces of the sunflower to share with those people on our boat. There were a total of 11 and we had more seeds than we could eat. Surprisingly, the seeds were delicious eaten raw. This picture reinforces my love of traveling to meet other people, see foreign countries and eat food that I normally would not see at home. |

Looks like a little sunflower goes a long way!

Thank you Wolff and Nadine! I would if I were as daring as some people who eat things like mole crickets and fried scorpions! I will eat any fruit except for Durian!

I'm going to try that. Tess, have you ever thought of writing a book just about your foreign culinary experiences. I bet it could be a best seller. I,for one, would be it!!!
