Great Travel Moment

This photo was taken in Varanasi, India. It was the day before I was to leave India, so I got up early in the morning to take a cruise on the Ganges River. Up until that day, I had travelled through much of Rajasthan and some other major cities in India, so I had been through a lot of traffic jams and city noise. This, however, was very different from any other part of my trip. It was very peaceful and calm on the Ganges. The sun was just coming up, so it was not too hot yet. The feeling of holiness was palpable; this added to the feeling of calm and gave me a moment to reflect on how lucky I was to see this land and its people. This is why this photo is so special to me. The sunrise over Varanasi energized me and was the perfect beginning to the day.
