Great Travel Moment The seashells are everywhere. From the moment you approach the beach, they are lying in the sand waiting to be picked. You are usually in the heads down position searching for the most beautiful or most unusuall shell. We came armed with a large pail & shovel. We then transfered the washed shels into ziplocked bags. They are now airing out on my terrace. These shells are the stinkiest, smelliest things I've ever encountered. I Threw away any shells that even remotely might be harboring a sea creature. So, I can't imagine why the unpleasant odor. Any ideas how to remove the offensive smell would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

One of my favorite things to do is to collect seashells from all my travels.

Sanibel is a good place to find nice shells. I have used some bleach with water and let them soak first then I thorough;y rinse them with water then dry them. I have heard that some people used baking soda with the water! Good luck!
