Great Travel Moment

One of the Chinese Cultural Revolution's key campaigns was the Destruction of the Four Olds which involved the ransacking of antiquities, architecture, literature, art and music. People in possession of these items were sometimes killed. This young farm worker is probably a generation or more away from the intellectuals who in addition to being tortured or harassed, were forced to relocate to the country to perform manual labor on community farms. Today, people still largely work and harvest the land by hand, many in the shadows of those who toiled before them.
