Great Travel Moment The Malecon is the dilapidated waterfront where Havana locals and tourists alike turn out each evening to watch the sun set. Old men play trumpets and guitars, the sounds lazily carried on Atlantic breezes. Joggers run back and forth working up a sweat although the heat has subsided. Smiling children walk atop the sea-wall steadied by their parents hands and groups of young men gather and coo at the girls that saunter by. Some show their prowess by diving off of the sea-wall (pictured here), a dangerous proposition given the reefs below. And lovers, young and old, cozy up to watch the sun dip below the horizon.... once again. |
