Great Travel Moment This isn't a black and white photo. This is Quito in the rain. After our twelve hour journey from San Francisco turned into a two and a half day dark comedy of errors we arrived in sunny, beautiful Quito exhausted but relieved. Immediately grabbing a city map we went to explore the old city and found ourselves smack in the middle of a rainstorm - locals cramming into shops and fleeing the sidewalks. By this point we were going to see everything possible even if we were crabby, soaking, freezing, and miserable. And, amazingly, it's not the discomfort I remember from that time at all, but rather the stately elegance of the deserted, rain swept city. |
