Dream Trip 2008: SeptemberHistoric Dubrovnik mote surrounding the walled-in-city.

Great Travel Moment This is a photo of part of the land side mote that was filled with the Adriatic sea protecting Dubrovnik for a thousand years against foreign invaders. The photo of the mote, now used as a road, is an ironic icon. The mote was originally used against invaders, and now because of the Global Economy it welcomes international tourists. This special photo represents a time of dire communistic rule in Dubrovnik, Croatia. It was the herald spot where I privately met with a dozen Croatian teenagers to discuss the eventual death of communism and the creation of democracy in a country historically torn apart by political and religious wars. |
